Julie Yost

Austin, TX
Julie Yost is a proponent for good design in all its forms, and fascinated by the influence of design on the public realm. In four years at SXSW, she’s grown the organization’s focus on design, cities and social equity through thoughtful curation and creative events, including the Place by Design program and SXgood Hub. Julie views her work as an opportunity to drive cultural, artistic and informational exchange. Countless collaborations have been formed through her programming, including a permanent public art installation in Austin and partnerships advancing a hip hop architecture camp for youth across the country.

Currently, Julie is working on art, design and social equity programming for SXSW 2018. In her spare time she is the Deputy of Seeking and Finding for the US Dept of Arts and Culture, where she’s overseeing a information mapping project on homegrown cultural arts organizations. She also works as the Director of Guest Services for Austin’s very own weird and wonderful Fantastic Fest, and recently advised on the US’s first ever speculative design conference, PRIMER in San Francisco. In short, she loves design and the arts and believes they are key to advancing social change. She also loves dogs, and has two pitbulls and a miniature dachsund who kindly allow Julie and her partner to share their home in East Austin.
