Kaitlin Popielarz is a teacher educator and PhD student at Wayne State University`s College of Education in Detroit, Michigan. Kaitlin is a former secondary and adult education social studies teacher, which is where her passion for powerful learning communities blossomed. She is a member of We The People of Detroit`s Community Research Collective and is an active volunteer with various organizations in the fight for equitable education. Kaitlin`s research and teaching interests include connecting teacher education programs to the local grass-roots community in order to provide future educators the opportunity to learn place based and culturally sustaining pedagogy for the learners they will teach.
